Black Panther Magic
A spirit animal offers its power and wisdom to the individual it has chosen to connect and communicate with. For some people, it’s as if they’ve always been drawn to an animal or have a special feeling about the animal’s energy. For others, they wonder how to find their spirit animal. I understood that you can’t choose your animal guide, it chooses you. I wanted to know what mine was.
I was at a crossroad. I believed a spirit animal was waiting for me, but I didn’t know how to find it or have it find me. I talked to several people, read about spirit animals, and meditated on it. It just wasn’t happening. Eventually, I talked to Kay, one of my clients who is also a powerful shaman and asked her if she could help me. She hesitated and finally asked if I ready to do whatever it takes to connect. I hadn’t been taking it lightly, but I also didn’t realize how important and serious this was. I answered, I would do whatever it takes to connect to my spirit animal.
Traditionally, you are connected to a spirit animal during initiations or shamanic journeys. We set a date to go on a shamanic journey. I didn’t know what to expect and I was a little fearful. I trusted Kay would guide me where I needed to go. Some journeys are in the physical world and some travel to the spiritual realms. Kay said we would meet at my house and the travel would be spiritual. I was relieved! I thought that can’t be too dangerous. When Kay arrived, she laid out her tools for our travel – stones, crystals, etc. She asked once again if I was ready for this journey, and I replied yes. She wrapped both of us in white light energy and said prayers.
She finally told me we had to go to the underworld to find my spirit animal. In a guided meditation we traveled down many layers to get to what is called the underworld. It was dark and felt like we were in a jungle. As we walked, we needed to be very aware and alert. We came to a clearing and there was a huge black panther. He communicated with me through thoughts. He had been waiting for me, waiting to see if I was ready to step into the shadows to eliminate my fear of the dark and unknown. He came over to me and put his front paws around my neck and rode with me up through all the layers back to where I started. I wasn’t afraid because I knew he was my spirit animal and would be with me always.
To me, black panther magic is a symbol of courage, valor, and power. Panther is a symbol of the feminine, death and rebirth, reclaiming your power, and living your dream. Black panther magic has been in my life over 20 years. It’s time for a new Adventure and the panther is with me!
